Where does 020 stand with Diversity and Inclusion?

‘020 utilises progressive pragmatism to achieve its goals with a focus on increasing diversity, helping students with housing, and connecting our peers with job and internship opportunities.’

We at 020 believe that Diversity and inclusion have become increasingly important topics in recent years, both in the workplace and in society as a whole. Diversity refers to the differences that exist between people, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, and disability. Inclusion, on the other hand, refers to creating an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.

Previously, 020 worked on the 'let me tell you project', where stories of students/people with a different background were told using an art and photo gallery. It helped people express themselves creatively while also spreading awareness.

After interviewing a representative of 020, Shasha, we found out about some plans that 020 has in store for the betterment of life at University regarding diversity and inclusion.

020’s aims to increase community spirit e.g. by faculty-wide events (parties, sport days, concerts, spring events) to promote integration between students with diverse backgrounds.

020 also wants to conduct surveys and further research on the status quo ‘how do students feel?’, ‘do students feel safe at UvA?’

Overall, diversity and inclusion are critical for creating a positive and successful environment for students at UvA. Embracing diversity and fostering inclusion can lead to better decision-making, improved employee engagement and retention, and increased innovation and creativity.

020 prioritizes diversity and inclusion and wants to promote and uphold these values to create a more equitable and inclusive society for all students.
